Go to Greenwich Avenue and you’ll find a number of British businesses including the restaurants Tea & Sympathy and A Salt & Battery. Local businesses, residents and Virgin Atlantic have founded a movement to rename the area Little Britain. As it stands the local council voted against renaming the area however it may not be the last we hear of the idea as there remains strong support.

Things to do
The best guides to what’s on are Time Out New york and city search. A great book if you’re serious about finding out more about the city’s history is Forgotten New York which is full of facts about each of the city’s five boroughs.
Getting Around
The easiest and most economical way to get around the city is to buy an MTA metrocard which gives unlimited and pay-per-ride access to the city’s Subways and buses. If you’re arriving at JFK then you can even take the Air Train which connects to the city Subway – so if you are traveling light and have time on your hands you can get from the airport to the city for $7 ($5 for the Air Train and $2 for a ride on the subway).
Cycling
New York is expanding the cycle paths around the city and now it’s almost possible to ride around the entire island of Manhattan. You can rent a bike from many places, check out New York city bike rentals, C & M Cycles also offer great deals with an extremely helpful staff. Ask for the free cycle path map of New york when you rent your bike or else pick up a copy at any New York Parks department office. For more information on cycling see ny.com
Taxi
the cabs that you can trust are any yellow cabs and also Dial 777 which are limo’s. Dial 777 phone number is 212 777 7777. All Yellow cabs and Dial 777′s are (or will soon be) fitted with GPS systems. From JFK ignore all the w**ker’s offering you a ride and go to the official taxi line where a you will get a cab and they will tell you how much it’s going to be before you get in. To Manhattan from JFK it’s a flat rate of $45 + tolls and tips which normally works out at another $20 or so. Dial 777 is good for a pickup service and if you are in a larger party they can arrange various sizes of vans/buses for up to 24 passengers.
