So friends across the pond before I enter into the main gist of todays report please may I post something that I posted on OTIB 24 hours ago (QUOTE):- Posted Yesterday, 04:08 PM Whatever with the ‘Boro free kick he was truly awful for BOTH sides that day. He is simply a rubbish referee who is very much up himself? Not a good start to the weekend, in fact I might just hope that tonights severe frost gets right into the pitch and he does us all a favour and postpones it tomorrow meaning that we can have someone a little better in black when the game is eventually played?  (UNQUOTE) That was my views on todays choice of match official a certain Mr.James Linnington...

Three points are three points (Courtesy Fred Graham)

Hello to all my fellow suffering BCFC fans on both sides of the “pond.”  Before I begin todays match report may I take this opportunity to personally thank all those wonderful friends who have offered their thoughts and condolences at this particular time.  Sadly my sister passed away a week ago and whilst she was never a BCFC fanatic like yours truly she always enquired as to their latest result.  Gone but NEVER forgotten.  RIP. Now call me extremely old fashioned but when I listen to comments from  the likes of Del Boy and Calamity claiming that the home game against  the mighty Donny is “A must win game” or “The first of 20 cup finals” then this really starts to...

Starting to be a tad concerned – Are to many of our lot in cosy street????

OK I am not going to jump on to Del Boy’s back at this relatively early stage in his tenure, BUT, as I write this the day after we yet again crashed out of one of the two major cup competitions to lowly opposition I have to admit that his reaction to defeats such as the recent one against bottom of the table Coventry and now Crawley is not really what I want to hear?  ”If” our players presumably have the skill and desire to complete a recent double over a team like Southampton and also go to Upton Park and gain a more than deserved point then one would think that by xplaying with the same sort of...

All’s well that END’s well

First of all let me wish a very belated Happy and Healthy New Year to all my readers on both sides of the pond.  Secondly massive apologies to you all that I have taken so long to publish the match report from Tuesday nights game.  Unfortunately the new year has opened for yours truly with time being in extremely short supply thus the late publish but anyway here we go. After what can only be described as a disaster losing at bottom team Coventry and then unbelievably becoming the first team to win a League game at the St.Marys stadium at Southampton in 2011, City fans must have wondered just “which” City team were going to turn up on what...

Happy New Year

December 29, 2011

Lets forget the last few games and beat the Saints to make it a Happy New Year, or at least start the new year on the right foot !  I know your probably thinking, we can’t beat the bottom team let alone the top team, but I’ve got a warm fuzzy about this game. We”ll have 1600+ Cidereds cheering them on, including a bunch of my best mates from Briz. All we’ve got to do now is play as well against them as we did a few weeks ago at the Gate, witnessed by Steve A and Si, get the win, start another winning streak, and it’s a Happy New Year to all ! Sound optimistic ! I’m trying...

Florest park the bus and we play like donkeys

Now I must admit right from the start that there was a time a long time ago when your writer had more than a “passing” liking for Nottingham Florest (Yes, I know I have added an “l” but that’s how I know them).  In the days when they were managed by the incomparable Brian Clough / Peter Taylor duo they played the game the right way.  The players were hard but fair and unlike today they always showed massive respect to match officials – If they didn’t then they would have Mr.Clough to contend with.  Also during this era it is worth mentioning that they won two European Cups, a European Super Cup and also the old first division...

On a day like today there are far more important things than a crap referee……….

Now first of all on todays match report may I take the opportunity on behalf of both myself, my family and all football / soccer supporters on the other side of the pond place on record our sincerest condolences on the sad news of the tragic death of Gary Speed RIP.  I am confident that all of you, like myself were both shocked and deeply saddened to learn close on a week ago of Garys tragic death.  My personal abiding memory of Gary Speed was the season before last when he was manager of Sheffield United and after his team had put in an absolute dog of a performance at Ashyon he still had the good grace to applaud...

Pilates – I’ll have the three points if you dont mind????

Now if any sane person had asked my opinion of a predicted score of BCFC v Southampton prior to the 19th October of this year then I think it would have been an extremely safe bet that goals for BCFC would have been extremely minimal and goals for the high flying Saints would have been basically any figure that you care to mention starting with double figures????  Reason for my prediction would have been simple – We were absolutely dreadful and could not defend and Southampton had hit the Championship like an express train, showing no fear and in the ex Whorefield heroine Ricky Lambert a proven goal scorer whose goals had taken them right to the top whilst...

Great win today.

November 20, 2011

Just watched the boys on FSP, very impressed, Kilkenney and Adoma were magnificent, Marv solid in the middle, and two great goals from Maynard (all City goals are great of course). Millwalls goal should have been hand ball, but City prevailed and deservedly won. The defense gave away a few dodgy passes at times to put under a little bit pressure here and there, but on the whole, a fine team performance. Perhaps McInnes will be Manager of the month ! Things are definitely looking up at the moment, lets hope we can keep it up and get out of the danger zone. Unfortunately we didn’t have a meet up due to it being shown at 8-15am on Sunday,  not...

And Finally – An Englishman in New York PLUS a home win!!!!!!!!!

And Finally – An Englishman in New York PLUS a home win!!!!!!!!!

So I make no excuse whatsoever for being a smidgeon “self indulgent” for the first part of today’s report (Yes, there has been a game at the Gate at home to Burnley, but much more of that later).  As I am sure most of my regular and devoted readers are aware I sadly missed my first home game (League, Cup and friendlies) against Birmingham as my eldest off spring decided to exert one of his Mother’s worst traits (Only joking dear, honest, just IN CASE you are reading) and decided to get married ……………………………………………………………. Sorry that should read “Get married………………………………… in New York”.  So instead of joining the other 13,577 at the Gate, yours truly was “enjoying” the delights...
